| Cool... Super... Groovy... or
wotever? This section allows you as LGB society members to have your say and to be heard.
It can range from anything from the political to god-darn ridiculous (however for some
reason I reckon that the later is going to proove more accurate!). Anything substantial will be posted as a 'review' and will be based upon something topical, the other
banter will be tossed into the pit of oblivion that we shall call 'chat-back'
- here, within reason, any nonsense you send in will be posted. The aim is to update this
page as frequently as we can - this depends on your enthusiasm as well as our laziness to
update so unfortunately no promises can be made.
To get your words of wisdom up on the big (14"
or so?) screen send us an email with the subject: Chat Back. So now you
know how simple it is... go-on and have some fun, go-on, go-on!! Happy chin wagging! |
First Boxes Trip 7/11/00
First major out of town trip for the Society and I was on tender hooks thinking the whole
thing was going to fall flat on its face. But oh no, I forgot, I'm dealing with a bunch of
queens. Finally, an hour late, Big Gay Carls - Big Gay Bus ride was heading for Exeter. A
couple of bevvies at the Vaults and a few attempts by members at the Karaoke as a warm up
and then on to Boxes. A bit on the quite side, as Exeter's LGB had had a party the
previous night, thanks for the invite Dave. Well there was enough tottie for everyone,
even if some did have to make a compromise, ahh Cinders.
All in all a very good night with more trips expected to follow.

The memebers of the
society as part of the fundraising for World AIDS Week took part in the task of trying to
give away over 400 condoms and love packs (which were kindly donated by the Eddystone
trust) to the hundreds of students that were at the uni to promote AIDS awarness and safe
sex. Every day of the week three members of the LGB went around at morning break and lunch
time armed with their collection tins, ribbons and condoms asking people to donate their
cash. As this was December and everyone recieved their loans 3 months earlier you can
imagine it was easier said than done - but to give them credit we raised a garnd total of
£333.34 which was presented to both the Eddystone Trust and the National AIDS Trust to
aid them in their wonderful work. (Review by Anthony)

Fancy dress night at Boxes. 12/12/00
Last trip to Boxes, the big finale b4 Christmas, the festivities in full swing most LGB
members met outside the union. We all climbed aboard the mini bus feather Boa as well,
bound for the unsuspecting Exeter.
We entered the Queens Vaults and Tim turned heads in his stripy dress, bright red lippy
and those fabulous red fishnet stockings. Cassy in his cute school boy uniform made men
blush. As for Cindy in his very skimpy little number provoked an eer of curiosity and
excitement amongst the Exeter queens.
Boxes, though quite empty still had enough to offer Cindy.
Everyone had an enjoyable night, but watch out Exeter, we're back soon! Check out these fotos! (Review by David) |

However the cast doesnt sit around worrying about being black and gay they
have other problems to deal with, such as broken families and divorce!
This is a cliché turned upside down, stereotypes trampled under stiletto heals and all in
a blaze of eye popping colour that makes Eastenders look like it had been filmed through a
sewage coated lens
definitely one to watch! (Review by Lauren) |
London
Trip
Whey hey... we're going to London, well as long as everything pans out: all details will
be given in the next meeting but whey hey we're going to London whoopee!!!
We should get there late Friday just intime to eat, drink lots and then hit Heaven for a
stonking good nite. Secondly if we go to G-A-Y on Satuday the 10th then the POPSTARZ (yes
the ones from the tv who we have all watched being put through hell) are going to be there
and we cant miss that!!
Then hopefully time and hangovers permitting we may be able to squeeze in Camden market
before heading home... fingers crossed eh? (Review John and Anthony) |
Rent
12/03/01
Well what can I say about this... well I guess I should start by telling you the
525,600 reasons to go see it if you haven't!! The talent, the songs, the story and did I
mention the talent?! Ah b-geesus did I enjoy the view!! (Despite Mr. Rickitt not showing)
But thats enough about me let me tell you about what we did, it started off well with what
seemed like hundreds of us meeting up in the Significant Half for a couple bevvies, and
then onto the play... which was terrific to say the least! Emotions ran from belly
laughing to a couple of teary eyes as we watched the trials and tribulations of those
young bohemians who soon became our closest friends.
After the show with the tunes still ringing through our heads a few decided to brave a
little more alcohol... which nicely led to us drinking with a few of the cast... and
'Crazy' starting conversation... god bless america! (Review by John) |

After our AGM on the 15th April 2000, we have some new people who came out victorious!
There were both new and old faces at the meeting which gave everyone the chance to both
find out about what is involved with running the society and also to discuss what they
would like to get out of it for next year, and believe me pussy-katz it looks like it's
gonna be loads a fun!
So who are your new committee, well almost new committee, they're in the process of a hand

...oh we also have Emma Scott running for LGB Officer, who ever gets that NUS post will
also sit on the committee. Good Luck peeps, look forward to you taking over the reigns!! -
